Guy Fawkes (1570-1606)
Some view him as a terrorist, others a revolutionary. The name Guy Fawkes has become synonymous with revolution; standing up for a cause, though history paints a different picture. He was to be executed for co-conspiring to assassinate King James with the failed Gunpowder Plot. He fought for the Spanish to secure greater religious tolerance. Before he could be executed for his acts of treason against England, Fawkes was tortured for three days until just before his execution, he dove from the platform and broke his neck. His History was made famous by the motion picture V for Vendetta.
Captain Sticky (1948-2005)
Richard Allen Pesta, better known as Captain Sticky, was the first “self-proclaimed superhero. Based out of San Diego in the 1970’s, Captain Sticky fought against several of societies misconducts such as nursing home abuse, rental car rip-offs, and over-sugared cereals. Phoenix Jones (1988-Present)
Phoenix Jones started as a Mixed Martial Arts fighter by the name of Benjamin Fodor. Patrolling the streets of Seattle with a team of RLSH’s known as the Rain City Superhero Movement, Jones fights the rising drug issue in Seattle. He received media attention when in October of 2011 he was arrested for assault after using pepper spray to break up a fight. No charges were filed and the case was dropped quickly thereafter. To other RLSH’s Phoenix Jones is seen as a “black sheep” because of his lax views on drug use and his gravitation towards the necessity to use his MMA training to fight crime.
